A group of Haitian women find refuge from the unrelenting sun under a lush shady tree in Blackwood, Eleuthera (The Bahamas). The morning's wash is drying on the line in the middle ground (far left). On the far right, a young man in red pants is walking away on the dirt path leading into the village.

Born in The Bahamas, Ritchie Eyma is a noted landscape painter of Haitian extraction. His vibrant oil canvases, typically Bahamian landscapes and seascapes, present an interesting blend of realism and impressionism.
